On February 10, Korea University (KU) announced to postpone the beginning date of spring semester to March 16, which is a two-week delay from the initially planned date March 2. Accordingly, the end of the semester has been postponed one week to June 26. The statement regarding the change of the academic calendar was announced on the KU Portal to Information Depository (KUPID).

As the novel coronavirus outbreak is continuing to be a threat to the South Korean society, KU stated to postpone the beginning date in order to ensure the health of faculty members and students. As the 16-week curriculum will be shortened to 15 weeks, extra classes and online classes will be provided to protect students’ rights to education.

Furthermore, the entrance date for the KU dormitories has been delayed to March 11. Students who have visited China within the past 14 days will be quarantined at the dormitory building for international students, which is a newly constructed building separated from other dormitories.

The statement ended with the note that KU will be actively responding to the novel coronavirus outbreak to secure the health of KU students.
