A revised edition of a memoir of Kim Junyeop, an independence activist and former president of Korea University (KU), was published in August, 2023 to commemorate Kim¡¯s 100th birthday. The memoir provides a detailed account of Kim's life as a young man and his challenging experiences as a member of the independence army, shedding light on the hardships endured by Koreans during the Japanese colonial period. It also highlights his experience in 1944, when Kim was conscripted into the Japanese army but managed to escape shortly after and joined the provisional government of Korea to actively fight for independence. In the memoir authored by his granddaughter, the unwavering commitment of the individual to Korea during challenging times is frequently lauded as a source of motivation for future generations.

The director of the Asiatic Research Center, Lee Jinhan, admits he faced difficulties while revising Jangjeong. In an interview with the KU Communication Team, Lee emphasized the significance of this memoir as a historical record of the Korean independence movement, making it challenging to omit parts of the memoir. Ultimately, Lee aimed to make the revised edition of Jangjeong easily accessible to young adults, ensuring that the previously used Chinese characters are accurately interpreted to convey clear and meaningful messages.
