As Korea University's (KU) Soccer Team commemorates its 100th anniversary, a heartwarming gesture of support has come from an esteemed alumnus and a true legend of Korean soccer. Ulsan Hyundai Football Team coach Hong Myung-bo, a graduate of the university's Department of Physical Education in 1987, made a donation of 100 million Korean Won (KRW), symbolizing a tribute to the team's rich history and a resounding endorsement of its promising future.

Hong Myung-bo's journey from a student player at KU to a revered figure in the world of soccer is one that has inspired many. With a remarkable career that saw him represent the national soccer team for 14 years, Hong's commitment to the sport is unwavering. As he transitioned into coaching, his contributions have not stopped, having worked with the Korean U-20 national soccer team, the Olympic team, and as a coach for the national team.

During the donation ceremony, Hong Myung-bo expressed the hope that his contribution would serve as an encouragement to the juniors who are destined to lead Korean soccer into the future. Finally, as the Annual Ko-Yon Games steadily approach, Hong also shared his support for the upcoming soccer match, rallying KU’s team to seize victory next month against Yonsei University.
