¥ð-ville (or ¥ð-ville99), the deemed central hub for Korea University (KU) Pioneer Village¡¯s activities since 2016, will reduce its capacity for startup initiatives. 16 startup studios will decrease to seven, with the remaining nine rooms allocated to the School of Art & Design (seven rooms) and the School of Smart Mobility (two rooms). The Student Operational Team, which formerly oversaw studio usage and organized events such as ¥ð-ville Day or Talk-ville, will have their workload reduced, resulting in the potential discontinuation of several long-held events.

The name of ¥ð-ville was conceived by stylizing the initial letters of the word ¡°pioneer¡± into the Greek letter ¡°¥ð¡±, with the hope of creating a space to help KU students¡¯ creativity and pioneering spirits continuously expand like the endless ¥ð. The building is made up of 38 repurposed shipping containers, many furnished with decade-old desks and chairs used by KU seniors. The student community, especially those with initiative ideas, expresses their laments toward the cut of startup space. Yet, with the merging of ¥ð-ville management institutions into the Crimson Startup Support Group, a more unified approach to startup governance is expected.
