After nearly a year of online classes for students in Korea, the season of college admissions has begun amidst the ceaseless pandemic. With the College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT) being delayed a month due to health concerns, rolling and special admissions have also seen changes in their application process.

The Korea University Admissions Office (KUAO) announced last May that the interviews for rolling and special admissions would take place online. Since then, the KUAO has made revisions to the rolling and special admissions deadline and specified the rules for online interviews. Excluding a few particular subsections of the rolling admissions, most students applying to KU before the CSAT are required to upload a video recording not exceeding one minute. Those applying to the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Humanities through the special admissions process will have recorded on-campus interviews, answering the given questions to a camera instead of a panel of professors. Special admissions for other departments will also be held on-campus yet in front of a live camera.

While the pandemic has disrupted the lives of all, high school seniors have been affected at an especially critical time. Despite these bewildering circumstances, KU is working to ensure a fair and transparent process of admissions.
